Way back in the 1950’s we knew that our fields were already depleted of trace minerals. We keep adding nitrogen to make the food grow but we were not adding minerals to the soil. Normally over hundreds and even thousands of years rocks and mineral deposits leach minerals into the water and then into the soil. But that is not happening in this day and age of industrial farming, but organic farming does introduce trace minerals to the soil. Trace minerals are very important for preventing hundreds of diseases and for creating great health and vitality. But we can add trace minerals to our diet with a few mineral rich supplements.
Himalayan Pink Salt – Pink Himalayan Salt contains over 80 different very important minerals that the body needs and most of us are not getting. That’s why Himalayan Salt is great for weight loss, acne, bleeding gums, dental hygiene, bad breath… good internal organ function, respiratory health, and for boosting the immune system and preventing colds and flues and healthy skin and nails. Pink Himalayan Salt can also help speed the healing of cuts and scrapes and can clear nasal passages if used as a nasal spray. And if a person puts Pink Himalayan Salts in a bath is will sooth away arthritic pains. And some people sleep better and have better concentration throughout the day when taking himalayan pink salts.
Kelp – Kelp has all kinds of health benefits and it contains Vitamins A and Niacin, and also Calcium, Iron, Phosphorus, Iodine, Selenium, Protein, Carbs, and Fat. Kelp increases metabolism and also aids in digestion, detoxing the body, and supports those suffering from impotence, anemia, and lack of nutrients. Kelp also aids in the development of the brain and maintains good hormone balance especially activating the thyroid and pituitary glands because of the useful Iodine it contains… and Kelp is very beneficial to the pancreas and the prostrate. And some people feel kelp is a good antibiotic for infections such as strep throat. And kelp is 28% trace minerals by weight, and with over 90 different types of trace minerals. Thus making kelp a natural source of wonderful minerals.
Chlorella – Chlorella is a fresh water algae which contains lots of wonderful trace minerals. Chlorella contains over 60 vitamins, lots of protein (up to 75% protein, one of the highest protein foods around… much more than beef or even fish. Protein is important for healthy muscles, skin, hair, and nails), great enzymes, and minerals that are essential for health. That’s why they call chlorella a super food, and that’s why you see so many nutrient pack drinks on the market containing green algae. Almost 100% of the nutrients in chlorella can be absorbed into the body, compared to around 20% with vitamin and mineral supplements… thus we get more nutrients helping our body. Be sure to use broken cell algae so it can be digested. Green Algae also contains lots of zinc, copper, selenium, manganese, iron, calcium and even B, C, E and K Vitamins, and 8 essential proteins and 10 none essential proteins.
Bentonite Clay – Bentonite clay also contains lots of great trace minerals for good health. The list of trace minerals in bentonite clay is amazing, a very long list (almost 80 minerals), lets just say it contains just about every important mineral that can be thought of. Bentonite clay is a natural alkalizing agent thus helping to prevent acidity and disease. Because bentonite clay has a very unusual ability, it contains a negative ion which helps to change the charge on tissues in the body making them more negative. This is very important for kidney patients who need a negative charge to help the passage of blood through the kidneys thus lowering blood pressure. Bentonite clay helps remove hydrogen from cells allowing more oxygen to enter the cells for better health. Thus cells are able to repair themselves easier and recover faster.
Sea Salt – Unprocessed sea salt contains upwards of 92 different types of minerals along with sodium. Regular old iodize table salt contains only 2 things – sodium and iodine which helps to prevent goiter. So it’s important to use unprocessed sea salt and also make sure it contains enough iodine to prevent thyroid challenges. Or perhaps trading off with sea salt and iodized table salt to make sure a person is getting enough iodine and other trace minerals.
Bone Broth – I don’t partake of this, but if a person does eat meat and wants more minerals in their body then boiling or pressure cooking a few large bones and eating the gelatin that comes from these bones which is rich in minerals will supply a person with lots of minerals. Bone broth provides lots of magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, and loads of trace minerals, plus it also contains collagen and gelatin.
