There are some people who don’t feel like eating, and this can be caused by many different things including: depression, stress, cancer, GI problems, chemotherapy, medications, and even liver disease.
Depression – First of all let’s take care of what’s causing you to lose your appetite. Perhaps you are depressed, then it’s important to take something like St. John’s Wort to boost up your serotonin level so you feel good again. Or DLPA which is a very fast acting supplement that increases serotonin levels thus enhancing mood. And counseling is very important… talking things out, getting things out in the open, getting at the root of the problem can change life forever.
Stress – If stress is the cause of lack of appetite… then the stress needs to be addressed by learning to meditate… and meditating daily for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day will cure lack of appetite. Studies show that meditation does cure depression.
Change Lifestyle – Also changing lifestyle is important! If you are inside all day… then get outside and into the sun so you get some sunlight and start feeling better.
Exercise – And exercise is very important… when you exercise you feel better about yourself, you look better, you feel better… and thus your mood is enhanced. Plus exercise increases serotonin levels in your brain which makes you feel happy.
Get Out of the House – Find friends to go out with, join a club, become active in your community, start feeling useful again, and your depression will go away… and your stress will be gone.
Medications – If you are on medications that cause you to lose your appetite then talk to your doctor… perhaps he has an alternate medication you can take that doesn’t have side effects. Also look for natural alternatives to medication… lose the “D” in medication and exchange it for a “T” – Meditation. Many physical problems can be addressed by using meditation, and there are lots of herbal remedies without side effects.
Liver Disease – If you have liver disease and don’t feel like eating and you are on medications… look for new ways of healing. A friend of mine had stage 4 liver disease and her doctors were no help at all, they just wanted to put her on steroids and wait to die. So I took her to NY to see my Chinese Traditional Medicine Doctor… now she is totally cured of liver disease. The TCM doctor gave her a few herbs in a tea that turned her liver disease completely around in a month…. Never give up hope!!! And peppermint tea, milk thistle, and burdock root are great for detoxing and regenerating the liver.
Chemotherapy – If your going through chemotherapy then there are herbs that can help with all the side effects. Peppermint tea is great for the liver and it helps with nausea, vomiting, and helps sooth the liver. Raspberry Leaf tea soothes the GI tract and thus allowing you to get your appetite back in order. Ginger tea is soothing tea is soothing to the GI tract with lemon and honey and can also help with nausea and irritation of the GI tract. Plus slippery elm is a wonderful healing balm for the GI tract… it’s like putting a cold compress on mucus membranes that protects them and helps with irritation. These are just a few herbs that can help your GI tract feeling good again… there are many more.
Cancer – And when it comes to cancer don’t always go with what doctors say keep searching… there was a man who had cancer and was on 25 medications. He decided to changed his diet, he started eating nothing but raw fruits and veggies and his cancer disappeared. Now he has thrown all those medications in the trash and feels great. And there are lots people who have been cured of cancer because they changed their diet completely.
Herbs for Appetite – Gentain, Ginger, Dandelion, Centaury, Parsley, Blessed Thistle are a few herbs that will kick up your appetite. Gentain is very bitter herb that increases gastric juices, saliva, and even increases the livers production of bile… thus boosting your appetite. Take Gentain in capsules because it’s very bitter and is almost impossible to swallow otherwise. Centaury is related to Gentain and also does a great job as a bitter for increasing appetite and can help soothe your liver. Then there’s Blessed Thistle… another bitter herb that grows in Europe and used for stimulating appetite. And using the combination of ginger, parsley, and dandelion in a tea works great for promoting a good appetite.
Mind/Body Connection – Plus acupuncture and hypnosis are also great for increasing appetite. And a yoga is great, it stretches muscles, helps your mind to be at peace, and creates a balanced way of living, thus you start to bring your body back to center… yoga is great for everything.
