The top medical symptoms in this day and age are gastritis, depression, high cholesterol, and in that order. And instead of using all those medications that have a long list of side effects you can use natural herbs and natural remedies to help you feel better in no time.
Gastritis – Take a cup of chamomile tea and then take some capsules of slippery elm powder or marshmallow root powder, and or activated charcoal… and meditate for 15 minutes and you will be on the mend.
There is a large mind/body aspect to gastritis and we can’t overlook that, when you are stressed your stomach will work over time cranking out acid and gas. Remember we have to get at the root cause of your gastritis and most of the time it’s mind based… so we have to look at how to de-stress.
Take a walk, get away from the computer, do some deep breathing, take a yoga class and meditate, have a glass of cucumber juice to alkalize your stomach… and drink a soothing cup of cardamom and hops tea. Both of these are very relaxing and will help you to restore your outlook on the day and de-stress your stomach.
Depression – Next to gastritis depression is the next chief complaint that people have (in fact 2 of the six top selling drugs are antidepressants)… and there are many great herbs and natural ways of healing that can help. Depression again is a mind/body process and just taking herbs is not going to do the trick.
We have to be honest here… getting out of your rut, making changes in your life, even drastic changes is important and without those changes in your life you may stay depressed. Find some one to do some counseling with, and be willing to take in what they are saying. Perhaps you feel stuck, everyone sooner or later feels that way, and it’s always great to have another perspective on life from someone you trust.
There are some great herbs and supplements on the market that will help. St. Johns wort as a tea or in capsules has been rated just as effective as all the prescription drugs for depression. Plus DLPA a new supplement is great for lifting your spirits and getting your serotonin levels back up to where they need be… thus you can start your way back a happy life.
It’s all about taking care of every aspect of your life: Mind-(meditating), Body-(exercising), Spirit-(prayer and nature), Relationships-(time for your loved ones), Social Life-(time with friends), and Financial Life-(your work)…and of course your Core Beliefs- (looking at your beliefs) every day. The key point is ‘having the life you want”… instead of just going along with the status quo.
High Cholesterol – This is the third major chief complaint that people have (In fact cholesterol lowering drugs are the 3rd largest selling group of drugs on the market) and there are lots of wonderful herbs that will lower cholesterol easily and effectively and high cholesterol connected to stress.
Red Yeast Rice is one of the best herbs, containing some of the same statin type chemicals for lowers your cholesterol… and it will do a great job of lowering your cholesterol. Also exercise is important, walking, swimming, weight training, tai chi, qigong, bike riding, are all important for lowering cholesterol. Omega 3 oils also lower cholesterol as does the supplement CoQ10 which is also important for muscles health while you are lowering your cholesterol.
Policosanol is another wonderful supplement that can lower cholesterol and is made from sugar cane. Artichokes and artichoke leaves are full of great phytosterols that lower cholesterol and the herb from India guggulipid which comes from the myrrh tree lowers cholesterol too! Plus there’s soy, and soluble fiber like that found in oats.
Most of all stress increases gastritis, depression, and cholesterol and learning to de-stress, meditate, relax with music, going out with friends, having time for yourself… all of the seven aspects of life are very important for lowering stress.
There was a study done on monkeys way back in the past where they gave them nothing but eggs and sugar and their cholesterol was fine. But if the monkeys became stressed their cholesterol shot up like crazy… goes to show that stress does make a big difference. And that’s why we need to start learning to de-stress, relax, and let to of less important things in life.
