From a spiritual place anger is the opposite of love. And because of that as human beings it’s important to learn to defuse anger and walk away from the situation before we take action… which in the long run we always regret. Here are a few spiritual ways to defuse anger and find peace.
Talk to a Spiritual Mentor – Sometimes we need input about something that has happened and that means we need to talk with someone who has spiritual knowledge and is willing to help. Having a spiritual mentor is vital, it’s a link to a different perspective thus within a few minutes anger can… and will disappear.
Read a Spiritual Passage – Read a passage of spiritual text from the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita, a quote from Lau Tzu or anything else that brings you peace. There is a peaceful power in spiritual texts that can defuse anger and create calm.
Look in the Mirror – Take a look at yourself in the mirror, and ask yourself if you like what you see, an angry man or woman? Usually the answer is “No”, and then start saying “I Love You _______” (Put in your name) over and over again… an from that point on many people start to cry and the anger melts away.
Say a Long Prayer – Sometimes nothing works better for getting rid of anger than talking to our Maker. To open up and talk about everything we have bothering us can can defuse anger. Make it a long conversation and listen to the still small voice while doing so… it’s amazing what that little voice will say.
Get Out in God’s Nature – If need be get out in nature, go to a park, drive out to a nature preserve, or walk down a beautiful trail in botanical garden. In nature we find a feeling of calm, a feeling of peace, and a feeling of being close to our maker. Thus anger is defused within 20 or 30 minutes while walking around in the natural world.
Play Soothing, Relaxing, Spiritual Music – Down through history and even in the spiritual text is has been written that music can sooth the savage beast. So to play some classical music, something calming will sooth away anger and replace that emotion with peace.
Watch a Spiritual Movie – Tuning into Youtube or Netflix and watching the “Passion of Christ”, or the “Life of Buddha”, or the movie “Spiritual Revolution” can derail anger for sure. Within 90 minutes all the anger will melt away.
Walk Away With Your Creator in Mind – The most important aspect of defusing anger is to walk away and have your creator in mind. Take a 5 to 10 block brisk walk and concentrate on walking fast so your heart starts really pumping fast. This will take a few minutes to accomplish and within that time anger usually subsides.
Meditate for 45 Minutes – If the anger is still hanging on, then meditate for 45 minutes to an hour and that for sure will allow all the anger to dissipate. Breathing in and out, just concentrating on your breathing and if a thought comes in say “I will get back to that later” and go back to concentrating on breathing. It’s amazing how well meditation works for getting rid of anger.
Imagine Moving Through the Tunnel of Light – Take an imaginary trip through the tunnel of light. Sit down close your eyes and image that you have left your body and are going to Heaven, Nirvana, Across the Veil and other names for the other side. And when you get there a spiritual being asks a very important question “What do you regret”? and at that time you allow all your emotions to pour out. Most of the time there are lots of things we regret, and thus we purge all those feeling and a feeling of humbleness takes their place… which allows all anger to disappear.
The whole process may be accomplished with just one of these techniques or with 2, 3, or 4 of them used together. The only person who knows what will defuse the anger is the one we see in the mirror. So try as many of these processes as need be to create a whole new way of being… and to allow anger to melt away.
Many blessings to all of you while on your journey to defuse anger. Everyone one of us has been angry at one time or another. But the longer we are on our spiritual path the less anger we have… thus keep moving forward, keep learning, and life will eventually be peaceful, calm, and full of joy.
