We can fall in love with the one we see in the mirror, not in a narcissistic way but in a natural wonderful way, similar to the way we love our spouse. We can learn to accept ourselves as beautiful no matter who we are… and no matter what mistakes we’ve made. We can learn to pay attention to our feelings and be understanding… and also learn to like our own laughter and love the little things we do.
We learn to compliment and forgive ourselves, we normally forgive and compliment everyone else… so it’s time to start doing the same for ourselves. We can learn make take time for ourselves and smile at the one we see in the mirror. If our feelings get hurt we learn to treat ourselves with respect, gentleness, kindness, and love.
We make time every morning to look in the mirror and say “I Love You” and mean it, and feel it without laughing or crying. This take time, but the more we say “I Love You” and show that we do with loving actions, the more we begin to like the person we see in the mirror.
When we say “I Love You” to someone else it may not be accepted… and sometimes it takes lots of time for the other person to understand how much we love them. That’s exactly what happens when we look in the mirror and say “I Love You”… it takes time. We start courting the one we see in the mirror, just as if we we courting a special person that we love.
We start walking the talk, we give up putting ourselves down and ignoring our feelings, and we put in place an early warning system that notices when we are abusive. We start loving the dreams we have for our life, and thus we start believing in the one we see in the mirror.
And if we don’t feel loving when we say “I Love You” in the mirror… we have to remember it takes time, but most of all it takes action. Action is key… what we “DO” to make ourselves feel loved means everything. Combined with loving action the words “I Love You” transform into self-esteem, a feeling that we are worthy and deserve love like everyone else.
Remember the word LOVE is a verb
